Banned Items Inside the Machu Picchu Citadel
- Any kind of gun or firearm
- Hunting or fishing equipment
- Machetes; knives (if the blade is larger than 7 cm)
- Traps for animals or containers for flora
- Oil, diesel, gasoline (to prevent fires)
- Alcoholic beverages, stimulants, psychotropics, any other drug prohibited by national regulations (to prevent violence, antisocial behaviors)
- Beverages and similars in glass containers
- Sound systems, musical instruments, whatever source of noise pollution
- Pets, exotic animals
- Walking poles without a proper rubber tip. Wooden walking sticks
- Bicycles, skates and all similars
- Drones and related
- Professional filming equipment (without permission)
Additional Regulations for Machu Picchu Conservation
- Cooperate with Peruvian tourism officials and park rangers in order to avoid violations of these rules
- Notify Peruvian officials about any actual or potential damage to natural and/or cultural heritage
- Have a proper handling of all kinds of residues, disposals (to prevent environmental pollution)
- Any kind of damage to archaeological remains (breaking, scratching, graffiti, etc) is utterly prohibited
- The same applies to all flora, fauna and geography in Cusco
- Eating or drinking inside the citadel
- Political, business and similars advertising or activism
- All kinds of lewd behavior
According to Peruvian law, an infringement of these current regulations implies charges which will lead to sanctioning measures.
