Pachamama. A millenary concept throughout the Andes, going back thousands of years. It means Mother Earth and she was respectfully worshiped in Andean religion. The Pachamama was widely revered for being the giver of food, water, trees, woods, forests. During Inca times, the worship of Pachamama was already established, Mother Earth was protected and respected. If you look, just for instance, at the design and building of Machu Picchu, you will see that the citadel was built without damaging the natural location, that is, the nature inside the location. Incas included eco-friendly actions whenever they built.

Nowadays, this Inca worldview is dramatically needed. Amid the global climate crisis, the wisdom of ancient Peruvians is really valuable. Trees, woods and forests are major cleaners of global warming chemicals and in turn they release a lot of oxygen, so they are truly important. Among our several eco-friendly actions, TOUR IN PERU has an ongoing partnership with the Pachamama Raymi Project, which we are going to explain next.
The Pachamama Raymi Project, One of Eco-Friendly Actions by TOUR IN PERU
Like we’ve been saying, there is a dangerous ecological crisis going on, and actually TOUR IN PERU has taken many measures to help protect the environment. Among these eco-friendly actions, we have a partnership with the Pachamama Raymi Project.
The central idea is: when you book a tour with us, we will use some of the money in eco-friendly actions like planting a tree and help large-scale reforestation across the Cusco region. Because this is what the Pachamama Raymi Project is: a massive effort of growing trees to fight deforestation. Besides, this initiative is really helping small villages to get out of poverty and have a steady, reasonable income, because they are the ones who plant the trees, take care of them and finally make a much helpful earning.

So far, TOUR IN PERU has planted some 4,450 trees, and counting. We surely want to follow the Inca tradition of respecting Mother Earth and also make a significant contribution to fight global warming and air pollution. Also, this makes sure visitors will continue having amazing natural landscapes of trees and woods, which are so great to enjoy when traveling.
Eco-friendly actions like reforestation are also greatly beneficial for the amazing Andean fauna. Woods provide a safe habitat for species like cougars, bears, foxes while trees are home for the wide variety of birds we can find here and that many tourists really enjoy for watching and taking pictures.
The Pachamama Raymi Project is not the only of eco-friendly actions we are currently involved in, but undoubtedly is a very important one, for it helps fight climate change and also means a sure way to overcome poverty for thousands of country families, peasants in the Cusco region.
