Between Cusco and Machu Picchu is the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Sacred Valley has beautiful scenery, and you can see snow-capped mountains.
This area is home to several Inca and pre-Incas sites, as well as villages and markets. Among the places you can see here are Chinchero which houses the ruins of the estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, Pisaq which is known for its market and ruins, Moras and Moray, with their salt mines and terraces. The circular terraces there are thought to have been used as an agricultural experimentation center by the Incas.

Moray
You can easily get here from Cusco because of the proximity. The Sacred Valley is at a lower elevation than Cusco, it is usually warmer too. You can take a tour of the Sacred Valley in 1 day, leaving from Cusco. This area is great for people who want to see Inca sites or traditional villages.
